About this excursion
St. Augustine University of Tanzania (SAUT) is the largest private university and third largest university overall in Tanzania, located just 3 km from VOT Hostel. Founded by Catholic Bishops in 1998 and accredited in 2002, SAUT extends over 600 acres in the Nyegezi-Malimbe area, 10 km south of Mwanza on the shores of Lake Victoria, and is home to over 10,000 students from Tanzania and abroad.

Do I need to book this in advance?
Let the VOT team know a few days ahead so we can confirm a good time on campus, but given SAUT is just 3 km away this visit can often be arranged at short notice too.
What should I bring or wear?
Smart-casual clothing is appreciated on campus. Bring a notebook or camera if you'd like — many volunteers enjoy chatting with SAUT's international student community.
Can I visit if I'm in Mwanza on a short trip, not a full placement?
