Requirements & what's included
Can I combine volunteering with a safari or Zanzibar trip?
Absolutely — many volunteers add on a safari or local Mwanza activities before or after their Zanzibar trip. Let us know your interest and our team can help you plan it.
What currency should I bring?
The local currency is the Tanzanian Shilling (TZS). US dollars in cash (2009 or newer bills) are widely accepted for larger payments such as entry fees, and ATMs are available in Mwanza city centre for withdrawing shillings.
Is there an age requirement?
Most volunteers are between 18 and 50, but we welcome all ages. Volunteers under 18 can join with a parent or guardian, and there's no upper age limit — get in touch and we'll help find the right fit.
